A Year in the Life of Glenlyon Primary School

As well as our weekly commitments to Forest School experiences, baking and outdoor/active learning, we always have a busy school year, punctuated by specific events that we celebrate, participate in and fundraise for. Below is a list that gives a flavour of some of our yearly events:

Term 1, August- October

Summer Reading Challenge, visit to Open Studios Art Festival, Big Coffee Morning fundraising for MacMillan Cancer Care, Aberfeldy Thrift Shop fundaiser for School Fund, Ragbag Fundraiser for School Fund.

Term 2, October- December

School Travel Plan and Challenge Fund Application, Poppy Appeal and Remembrance at our local War Memorial, Christmas Show, Party and festive Lunch

Term 3, January-March

Big Bird Watch, Voting in the Scottish Book Awards, Burns Supper and celebration of Scots Language and Culture, Chinese New Year, The Big Pedal, Red Nose Day/Comic Relief

Term 4, April-July

Take Your Child to Work Day, Day of Song, Blooming Artists, Health Week (including annual First Aid Training), Aberfeldy and District Gaelic Mod, Biannual sporting competitions (Highland Perthshire Mini Olympics/Commonwealth Games, John Muir Award (P6-7) School Celebration of Success
